We have two infant class rooms: Sunflower Room (6 weeks - 12 mo) and Rainbow Room (12-18 mo). The Sunflower Room schedule is on demand in response to baby's needs. Sunflower Room's top priority is to ensure their first time away from home is nurturing and loving. Sunflower Room has a refrigerator for premade formula as well as breastmilk. A deep freezer is also available to keep a backup supply of breastmilk onsite. In Rainbow Room, babies and early toddlers work towards refining gross and fine motor skills, emphasis on early speech and language development, and environmental exploration.
CCH also has two toddler rooms. The Moonbeam Room houses toddlers 18-24 months primarily. They work hard on new word development and enjoy a lot of story time as well as outdoor play. The second toddler room, the Sunshine Room, is home to our 24-36 month old sweeties. This room also enjoys a lot of outdoor time to explore and learn about the environment. Each week focuses on a new topic as they develop language and skills surrounding that concept. Additionally, children are taught valuable life skills such as, sharing with friends, saying please and thank you, and even learning table manners!
The Butterfly Room, home to our 3 year old kids, begins our preschool classrooms. Preschoolers start to work on self-help skills, like dressing and serving their own food, while still providing loving arms and snuggles. This room also begins story circle time and name recognition along with verbal spelling. The Teddy Bear Room is our last stop before Kindergarten. These children are between 4 and 5 years old. They work on Kindergarten prep skills like cutting and spelling their own names while still incorporating the free spirit all children have. They enjoy a lot of large motor time outside to explore nature and use their imaginations.
Once children begin Kindergarten we offer daily before and after school care. The Lightning Room is our school age classroom. For before school care, a CSD bus swings by each morning to pick up the before school care children and then returns them from school to CCH after the school day is over. Our dedicated Lightning Room, before and after school program, gives school age kids a chance to unwind after their day. Lightning kids enjoy a healthy snack, play with friends, and participate in fun activities after school. We also offer homework help for children whose parents have requested it.
Along with all seven classrooms, we have a large area, fondly known as “Big Room,” for large and gross motor activities. There is a plethora of toys and equipment for all sorts of active play. This area is used mainly used when the weather is too hot or too cold to use our play yards outside. Sometimes there is just a need to get the wiggles out in the middle of the day and this space is perfect for that.
Each of our classrooms, infant included, has an outside play area linked to their doors. These spaces are filled with toys and equipment specifically tailored to each age range and targeted to continue their skills development in a different setting.
One of the most talked about aspects of our center is “Ashley’s food.” We have a wonderful onsite cook who makes some of the best food. Children go home talking about how delicious their lunch was that day, and somehow parents can’t replicate it! CCH serves breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. We participate in a food program called CACFP, which ensures we provide high quality, nutritious meals while still making them appealing to the children. We also cater to allergies and dietary restrictions. There are weekly menus posted on the door so that parents know what their child ate each day as well.
